The Theatinerkirche was sponsored by elector Ferdinand Maria and his wife Henriette of Savoyen in gratitude for their male successor, crown prince Max Emmanuel. Because Henriette was born in Turino, she calld the Italian A. Barelli as the architect, who created the first church in baroque style on this side of the alps. E. Zucalli completed the work.
