Munich central station, one of the largest railway stations in Germany, began as a provisional wooden building and was the starting point for the tracks from Munich to Augsburg (1839/1840). With increasing traffic towards Austria, Italy and the Balkan Peninsula in the 19th century it had to be enhanced. Because of the large war damages, Munich had to create a new modern station1950-1960.
