Shopping in Munich

Books and Papers

In the Schellingstraße are two English book shops. Take U3 or U6 to Universität and exit at Schellingstraße. The first one is remarkable chaotic and there are no doubts about the bad service. A few meters later is the in a backyard hidden Wordsworth which is a friendlier place.

The Hugendubel at Marienplatz (U3, U6, all S-Bahn) has in the top floor several foreign language corners and a good selection of English books. Hueber Universitätsbuchhandlung at Amalienstr. 77 (U3, U6 Universität) is also not bad sorted for European languages. All this shops order books for you, too.

Scientific literature and esp. computer related books are often only available in English, so you may try any German book shop. Start with Hugendubel, Hueber or one of the university book shops in Theresienstraße, Schellingstraße (U3, U6) or one of the side streets. You may start at Hueber and ask there for the next good shop.

The only good place for international press is in the main station (Hauptbahnhof), but your New York Times will cost you. You can even buy Japanese papers there.

Electronic Goods

One of the many Saturn Hansa (e.g. in Olympia Einkaufszentrum) or Media Markt are good if you are looking for HiFi, TV or the new PC. Ask in your hotel for the next one.
